January 2009 Equipping

Equipping the church online — Wouldn’t it be wonderful, if by sharing these resources together, we could learn more about giving first allegiance, both our heads and our hearts, to Jesus Christ?
The new Equipping — Executive Leadership is working with Mennonite Church USA’s churchwide agencies (Mennonite Education Agency, Mennonite Mission Network, MMA and Mennonite Publishing Network) to ensure Equipping becomes an even more accessible and practical tool for pastors and leaders across our church.
Pastors Week with Diana Butler Bass — Exploring how mainstream churches are experiencing revitalization will be the focus of Pastors Week, Jan. 26 to 29, 2009, at Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary. Start the new year with the Anabaptist prayer book — Take our moments and our days, the prayer book developed by a team from Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary, bring the ancient tradition of morning and evening prayers into our busy life today.
Visit Kentucky’s “Holy Land” — A week-long pilgrimage to several spiritual communities in northern Kentucky will be led by Marlene Kropf, May 24 to 31, 2009.
For women — Your Treasure, Your Heart — Women and the Stewardship of Money includes 12 study sessions plus a closing worship gathering ideal for women’s groups, Sunday school classes, retreats or individual reading and inspiration. Worship resources for marking faith milestones — Faith Markers: Marking Each Child’s Faith Journey is a churchwide ministry program to help your congregation celebrate significant faith events in the lives of children and youth. Browse & Buy — Mennonite Publishing Network offers congregations the opportunity to receive free displays of MPN publications. Mennonite Church USA Directory 2009 — includes contact information for all Mennonite Church USA congregations and agencies.
Free mission banks! — From Jan. 1 through Mar. 31, 2009, Mennonite Mission Network will offer free mission banks to all children in grades K to 6 who attend a Mennonite Church USA congregation.
LAST CALL — It’s still possible to submit a sermon or artwork for inclusion in the forthcoming collection, We Are Each Other’s Bread and Wine: Mennonite and Catholic Reflections on Eucharist and Peacemaking. | |
| After Equipping makes the transition to a primarily online resource, you will still receive four packets a year through conventional mail. To contact Equipping for feedback, submission guidelines or other issues, e-mail: equipping@mennoniteusa.org. | |
