This guide describes the manuscript needs of the periodicals published by Faith & Life Resources, a Division of Mennonite Publishing Network. Writers are invited to contact the editor(s) of the periodical(s) of their interest, preferably via email. Frequency: six times a year.With features a different theme in each issue, such as peer pressure, faith, sex and dating, prayer, service and mission, relationships.
First person and fiction pieces (800-1800 words). Told from the perspective of a teenager so that they ring "authentic" even if written by an adult.
How-to articles, poetry, and meditations.
Purpose

Focus: action oriented, discipleship living
Frequency: monthly in weekly partsPurpose needs short anecdotal stories and features (up to 600 words) and verse (up to 12 lines). Prefers terse, fast-moving writing style in first person. Rates on art and photographs vary according to quality.
Readers of Purpose are committed Christians who want to apply their faith in daily life. It suggests ways to resolve issues consistent with biblical principles. Such situations may arise in a variety of settings such as among the family, on the job, in the church as well as the community.

Purpose is interested in articles and stories that
• Illustrate how Christians apply their faith to daily life
• Illustrate biblical understandings that undergird discipleship living
• Stress loyalty to the church and its ministries
• Support Mennonites and other Christians as they participate in and witness to their local communities
• Inspire interest in the cultural and historical diversity of our world
• Highlight biographical and historical stories of Anabaptist, Mennonite, and other Christian leaders, places, and events
• Emphasize hobbies, nature, travel, art, science, and seasonal topics from a Mennonite and/or other Christian perspective

Focus: to nurture readers in their spiritual growth through daily Scripture reading, meditation, and prayer. Prayer Requests: Specific prayer reminders for each day are provided by each co-publisher for its readers.
Frequency: QuarterlyRejoice! meditations (300 words), based on the Uniform Series outline and the Revised Common Lectionary, are assigned by the editor.
Writers who are members of the copublisher bodies are preferred. Contact the editor if interested. Include a SASE with your query.

Strong emphasis on practical articles with plenty of narrative appeal. Includes seasonal worship materials.
Frequency: QuarterlyNote: Most articles are solicited from writers within the Mennonite Church. Query letters are welcomed.
